  • I had a 2014 CRV with natural engine. The only reason I got rid of it was the very uncomfortable seats along with the arm rests. I traded it for an 2018 Acura RDX because it was similar but much more power and comfortable. I did not want to buy a 2018 CRV, it had better seats, but it had the garbage turbo and CVT. The reliable 2.4 engine was no longer available. I would buy the RAV-4 because it had more HP and still has the natural engine and normal 6 speed trans plus a better AWD system.

  • We have a 07 Honda CR-V and it has been very reliable. My wife treats it like a truck hauling flowers and garden stuff. Have about 150,000 miles on it and plan to drive it until it drops. I drive a 19 Rav-4 Hybrid because we live on gravel roads that are not well maintained in the winter so I need plenty of clearance. I like it except for the lousy interior light system. The overhead switches are unlighted and all look and feel the same so as you try to blindly turn on an overhead interior light while driving, you are just as likely to open the moon roof which is not good if it is raining. Then you can't find the right switch to close it. Honestly, I believe I could have designed a better light system than that.

  • My wife and I just bought a 2021 Rav4 AWD over the CR-V and Forester. We didn't like the interior styling of the CR-V and how much Honda routed through the head unit and the unit's slow response time. The Forster felt clunky and we weren't big fans of how few dealerships there are around, plus it was more expensive than the Rav4. We're quite happy with our choice!

  • I had a 2018 Honda CRV for 2 years. My right knee started hurting as soon as I purchased it. It took me 2 years to figure out that there was a subtle vibration in it that was causing the knee pain. It stopped immediately when I got a different car. It was not coming from the tires. I think it was coming from the engine. I think you would have to set a glass of water on the engine with the hood up to see it.

  • May 8 2021 is a terrible time to buy a new car but I had to because my wife's car was totaled after an accident. The dealer have very little inventory to choose from. With used car prices elevated paying for a new auto becomes more attractive. Between nearby Honda and Toyota dealers I had about 25 RAV4-CRV's available according to their websites. I landed on a 2021 Honda CR-V Touring 2WD. The difference was the styling and color options of the limited supply of vehicles. I'm partial to silver / gray and the CR-V came down as a deciding factor.

They initially give you a 8 year 100k warranty. Once they fix it your screwed. Went back to Honda couldn't be happier.

  • Oh! Scotty, truth prevails that the Honda CR-V is better than the RAV4 in comfort, handling and material craftsmanship. Toyota uses way too much cheap plastic and lousy SofTex seat material rather than real leather. After 2017, the Toyota RAV4 has fallen flat on its face in becoming a terrible vehicle and the technology stinks plus faulty Safety Features. Honda CR-V has also fallen some in quality just as the Mazda CX-5. Making room for KIA to enter the competition. Toyota is on a path of self-destruction. I had purchased the 2018 RAV4 Limited AWD and it has severely failed to live up to its expectations. I got rid of the RAV4 in 2020 and went with the 2020 Audi Q5 with zero regrets. My uncle had a 1988 Toyota Celica and I thought it was an awesome car. Anyways, I'll never purchase another Toyota as the RAV4 was the 1st and will be my last. No doubt you give plenty of advise on automobiles, glad you enjoy doing so and I believe for most part it has helped more people than not. Thank you! okay ... hope your new home since leaving Texas has been wonderful for you and the Mrs. Kilmer.

  • I have a 2019 RAV4 and I love it. No problems of any sort, except Toyota replaced the fuel pump on a recall, but never had trouble with this. Safety features on the car are outstanding. Only complaint I have is that the engine is loud on hard acceleration, but I've gotten used to and kind of like it now. Vehicle has plenty of power. I have the gasoline engine model and not the hybrid. It's a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder with GDI, but it has no turbo which is good. Turbo pushes engines too far and they wear out faster. Overall, I would highly recommend the RAV4 5th generation to anyone who asks. Perfect family vehicle.

  • I have a 2010 CRV and I probably will not get another one. I have the tire wear issue and the burining oil issue. Probably because of the oil burning issue they had to replace the timing chain and other parts in that area. A few thousand miles later had an issue with a valve that went bad and they had to take the head off and fix it. I still geetting a valve taping sound whenever the engine is running and I’m next to a building. I also have a code for the cat being bad which will need to be replaced. Once I get that replaced I would have spent about as much in repairs as the car cost. Of cose none of this was covered by the entended warrenty taht the dealership sold me.

Actually my favorite was the V6 RAV4 but the dealer screwed me over on a brake job by charging in excess of $900 and I had to replace the differential at 70,000 miles that the dealer wanted $3000 for but had a shop put in a used one in for $750; never had any such issue with the CRVs. I average over 33 MPG with my current CRV.
