  • There are some things you automate and some things you don't. Computers are good at doing repetitive tasks that are the same thing over and over with a limited amount of variation each time. Welding car bodies together or loading electronic components onto circuit boards for example. But driving a car has too many variables, such as the exact route the car is taking and all the interactions with other vehicles, fixed obstructions and pedestrians. Just use a human driver instead.

  • The laws will never be changed because electric cars are part of a political agenda. All this electric stuff is about making cars controllable by those who run the world. If they don't want you going to a particular place, guess what? Your car won't take you. They are working up to having pods that will only go where they allow and will track your movements. It's why they are pushing this.

  • I would never trust a computer to make a judgment call, especially when it comes to driving a car on a crowded street or an interstate. Digital information is based on binary codes, sequences of 1s and 0s, there is no way that a computer could ever replace human judgment, of course, human judgment can, and is often flawed, that being said, here's an example, what would you do if an oncoming car crossed the center line into your lane? Human instinct kicks in, you would swerve, or brake, do what ever you can to avoid hitting that car, computers, no matter how advanced they are, simply can't make judgment call like that, it's impossible, I know that there is A.I. ( artificial intelligence), but that technology is still in it's research and development stages, it's years if not decades away from becoming widely available, and even then, I don't think it will ever replace good old fashioned human instincts and judgment. Binary is 1s and 0s, or in other language, on, off, or true, and false, that's it!

    Captain KirkCaptain Kirk9 күн мурун
  • Every statistic that you can possibly come up with when comparing human drivers to computer drivers on city roads will always end up with the computer drivers doing many times better. Less people die and there are less accidents with computer drivers. It's impossible to be in more danger with more computers driving on the road. The code for the cars is written extremely well given that there have only been a handful of accidents that have ever been caused by autonomous vehicles. You're just fear mongering about it.

  • This is a very powerful message! How many people have died in aircraft running on autopilot? Something happens were the pilot must take action, but wait he ends up fighting the autopilot. Gets distracted not realizing he is fighting the autopilot - runs out of altitude and crashes. Everyone dies! In ten more years of technology and improvements with autopilot for cars, I will still not pay for one. I will be happy to drive myself! Good Grief this poor bastards died because they could not bring themselves to actually drive their car themselves! 😱😱😳😳😳😳

    Mark LaFreniereMark LaFreniere10 күн мурун
  • Silly argument. Commercial jet aircraft all have auto pilot features -- and it's required by law with good reason. Sometimes autopilot fails, and passengers have been killed by autopilot override failures (the Boeing 737 Max is a good recent example). But how many lives have been SAVED by autopilot technology? A ton! Fact is, self-driving technology is already safer than most drivers on the road. Sometimes autopilot will fail and sometimes it will be abused. But 40,000 people die on the roads every year. Auto pilot will drastically improve that statistic. And the technology gets better every six months. Sorry, Scotty. It's here to stay.

  • I completely agree. Autonomous cars are a problem. Just too many variables involved in driving. Impossible to anticipate every situation in programming. I really don’t want to be on the road with them. Another real issue, in my opinion, is the problem with legal responsibility. WHO is legally liable in an autonomous crash? The owner? The manufacturer? The programmer? The technician who maintains the system? It is an ugly quagmire of finger-pointing. “Joint and several liability.” Of course, the LAWYERS will cash in on all this. Every time.

  • Hello Scotty, love your videos. The Tesla vehicles work. What doesn't work is their ability to do what they were designed to accomplish. The reason these vehicles don't work the way their supposed to is because they need a special sensor. The second thing is the roads they travel must also have sensors placed for the special Tesla autonomous driving to work. Lastly, the battery should be dissected and tested to make it safe. Right now it's a known hazard to anyone driving on the road.

  • You have to be in the driver seat of the car to have auto pilot on I use to work for tesla and drove our fleet and picked up customers cars and moved cars to different locations I almost always used auto pilot and only had one time where I had to take the wheel and I was going 90 or something and going around a loop to get onto another freeway and the car obviously slowed down but it gave me a heads up that it was about to disengage auto pilot because the lines on the road had disappeared and it was just such a sharp turn that it couldn't see where the turn was going but I had no problem taking over and correcting it and then once I was about to start merging I turned it on no problem.

This video is self serving to you, scotty, since you dont have the expertise to work on them. How many humans have driven too fast? One accident is not a trend. Get used to driverless cars. My answer is okay, I can accept that in a cheapo car like a Yaris, but that excuse doesn't hold water with a Lexus, a car that costs twice as much. At least offer it as a reliability option. I could understand Scotti's comments if there was a latex glove shortage, but not for items such as tires and radiator hoses. Any perceived shortage is more likely due to the past electrical grid failures in Texas where the petroleum refineries suffered unscheduled shutdowns and, consequently, damage.

  • Hi Scotty, Checking public record of the Texas Tesla crash: Tesla’s records showed Autopilot was not on before the crash and that you indeed cannot turn Autopilot on while on a street like the one the crash occurred on. Fire Chief Palmer Buck said: “Rumors grew way out of control. It did not take us 4 hours to put out the blaze. Our guys got there & put down the fire within 2-3 minutes … We did not (call Tesla), & I do not know where (that rumor) came from.” There is more, about the emergency braking came on toward the end of the ride, the steering wheel was bent, showing a person was in the driver's seat, but there was a rash of speculation by the press, but they have not retracted or corrected their reporting. It it is getting closer to driver error and further from automation error. Time will tell, Regards,
