    • What they do is they tell you your car needs all these repairs and your car is about to fall apart. Then they say how about you just trade it in and get a newer car instead. The dealership does not want to do repairs it wants to sell you a newer car take your old car as a trade in and sell that for the big profit $$$.

One thing annoyed me how to change oil without removing filler cap, dusty rocker no smudges or wiped down black oil after driving 60k Full check then on ramp nothing done on the service. My phone was red hot to that stealership pushed damn hard with loss legally action excuse mech too busy to service my car. Cost them the dealership. Sham you can't trust dealerships.

  • Even the honest dealerships charge an arm and a leg for service. A licensed local shop is like 50-70$/hr CAD while a dealership is always 100$/hr or more CAD (or the equivalent to that in job hour pricing so there becomes an incentive to rush which might be worse)

  • My Toyota dealer did the same thing. They lurer you in with a $10 oil change then give you a laundry list of problems that aren't there. Mine was an oil leak. About $2k to fix. They said, "It doesn't matter if there is not oil on your drive way it's leaking." I looked it over when I got home. Not a spot of oil. Took it to a friend who is a certified mechanic. • Yep. I had a Toyota that I noticed had some wires hanging down underneath. The Toyota dealer's mechanic and service rep told me it was serious and dangerous to drive that I needed a whole new wire harness for $1500. I took it to another mechanic. Turns out that I just drove over some wires on the road and they got stuck in the undercarriage. None of my car's wires had any damage. Absolute total lie! Sometimes even complimentary services. Preowned cars are usually done by independent however, but no ripoff if you go to the dealer.

They called me and said they removed the cabin filter and insects had built a nest in behind it and they’d need to drop the dash to clean it for about $800. I lived 15 minutes away. I said don’t touch it. I want to see for myself. I happen to be a flashaholic (a flashlight collector) so I grab one of my powerful lights, drive there’s walk in to the bay where our Lexus is, open the door, peer down behind where the filter goes and it’s clean as a whistle. Oh, they made a mistake. Yeah, the mistake they made was trying to scam me. I left the service manager a voicemail and he never returned my call. That’s why I call them stealers, not dealers.

  • About 12 years ago, I needed a vehicle. My wife was 8 months pregnant, and I found the vehicle at a dealership. All was good, and we were allowed to run our errands (mainly Baby's R Us) while they got all the paperwork done. We even took the vehicle to do those errands. Well, we get back to the dealership, and suddenly they tell me I can't have the vehicle because it was promised to one of their friends, and they began trying to sell me brand new vehicles that I was not interested in. It was in the middle of summer, so my wife was miserable. How did I get back at them? I decided I "wanted" this new Ford Ranger (I didn't), and while they wasted 45 minutes of their time working on getting me the best price and all these deals, i was laughing. The second the pen was in my hand to sign the paperwork, I told them I changed my mind and walked out.
